Define
After consultation with the client, we identified two key drivers shaping the design brief: the integration of a lap pool and the creation of a seamless connection to the existing home. This link also serves as a secondary entry point when entering from the street

Delve
The site context is quite varied and has no unifying architectural style, providing an opportunity for distinctive architectural expression. Site levels and integration with the existing home were key factors that would shape the design approach. The project was to embody a philosophy of purpose-driven architecture, where each element serves a deliberate function. From here, the design response began to emerge.

Realise
From the outset, our vision was to craft a contemporary pavilion-inspired architecture, with copper taking centre stage in the design narrative. Early meetings with suppliers to discuss supply, fabrication and the patina process were crucial in understanding how this would come together. Central to the design is the lap pool that punctuates the form and acts as a nucleus that shapes the spatial experience and embodies a sense of fluidity. The connection to the existing dwelling was realised through a glass walkway, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor spaces while allowing north light into the existing home. Early collaboration with landscape architects allowed for resolution of this space, as well as how to deal with the incline from the street level.

Refine
After finalising the design concept, significant effort was devoted to refining details while staying faithful to our purpose-driven architectural vision. Meticulous attention was dedicated to resolving intricate elements, such as threshold details and the seamless integration of shutters into the facade. Collaboration with service providers and home automation specialists played a vital role in fulfilling the client's vision for a smart, technologically advanced home.
